hm, this is an interesting topic, and i was enjoying reading the
responses, so i thought i'd chime in. i also figured maybe somebody
would be interested in my opinion as 50% (home) listener, 25%
producer, 25% dj. that mix is probably flip-flopped for most of you,
and even when i spin, i think i only hit about half "this-listy"
musics.

how long have we been here? i think six years, right? i know i've only
been around for five at the most, but i think it's interesting how the
scene has changed. when i first got into the scene, the atmospheres
and minimalism sucked me in - i was much more on the tech- end than
the -house end (even if we all kinda think the label is poopy). if i
look at the development of that T-H sound, i think about 1996-1998 it
crystallised, with what i feel are classics like the first swayzak
12"s, theorem, mr c's mixes, alter ego, etc usw...

nowadays, i don't really feel 75% of what you guys talk about (the
disco-y revival stuff, trentemoeller, fred everything, etc usw), but
that's fine, because i would sleep on some great records otherwise
(big thank you to whoever put out the word on shane berry).

looking back at the past two years, let's say, my two best albums from
each year are mikkel metal _victimizer_ and monolake _polygon cities_.
i've been buying lots of the areal/sender, boxer, logo, treibstoff,
sleeparchive type stuffs. kompakt is still good, m_nus is still good,
traum is still good, perlon is still good...

so yeah, it seems a lot of us are not buying the same sound we were
years ago, but that's fine, because that sound doesn't really exist
anymore anyways. that's a good thing. stagnant sucks. ;)
