Re: Self promo on the list...
From: mary cigarettes yeah!!!!! a man after my own heart. Hi everyone. I want to share with you a website that really charms me at the moment. http://www.toeragstudios.com/cover.html obviously this studio is near totally pre-digital... but the guy that runs it seems to really be a talented man. I guess like everyone else here, I'm working more or less totally in the digital domain and loving it. sure I have my tubes ect, but nearly everything i do is coming off logic with battery and spectrasonic plug ins through a motu 896 hd. the reason i send you all the link to this cool analogue studio is I've been thinking about taking finished tracks on logic and laying them down over the eight tracks of this mans tape machine and just letting him mix them through his desk and tubes..i can't help wondering that doing this could achieve lovely results...sure their might be some tape hiss..but then again hiss is something that' easy to duck and dive and even loose at mastering stage. what do you all think ? the guy is open provided one has a good reason for doing it my reason is to gain warmth and a different kind of punchiness. I've worked in hi end digital studios where even inspite of it,they would record drums on one inch tape for the natural squeeze and punch and then move them over to the protools or logic to complete the track..so why not take a whole digital production, gang it up into four stereo gangs and mix it on this mans totally fab system? what do you think? lots of love mary cigarettes [somewhere on myspace ,if you can be bovvered to find me] On 12 Jun 2006, at 04:48, Phil Williams wrote: > Hey team, > > Well, a glance at yesterdays mail reveals some pretty low rent > postings. > Lots of self promo with not even a nod towards the list's guidelines > for > such things... > > We've been a bit quiet on policing content policy of late, but don't > take it > for granted.
