Re: mac OS on a PC - no Emulator...
From: John Coleman Note that you need to have the x86 version of OS X, which is currently only available to developers. Additionally it'll currently only be able to run Mac apps in emulation (outside of the tiny handful that have been updated for x86) and will be unable to run any Mac apps that require a G4 or G5 at all, ever. Ditto with pre-OS X Classic apps. No go there, either. If you can get a hold of the x86 version of OS X, presumably via the usual illegal locales, it could be an interesting experiment to make it work. But, remember that this is a pre-release version of the OS, and Apple claims the final release will not be able to be loaded on non-Apple hardware. So you'll likely be stuck with a pre-release version of the OS in perpetuity, at least until (if?) someone hacks the final version to run on commodity hardware. Fun for an experiment/challenge, not so useful for ongoing computing. -John On Aug 17, 2005, at 2:32 PM, joshua collins wrote: > check it out they even tell you how to build a PC that will > natively run OS X 100% compatible... list of hardware: > > http://www.uneasysilence.com/archive/2005/08/3937/ > > > > > > joshua collins wrote: > > >> http://www.uneasysilence.com/os-x-proven-hacked-and-running-on-an- >> ordinary-pc/ >> >> >> nope no virtual PC bullshit there! somebody was actually able >> to get it to run fully on an intel / x86, crazyyy... here's some >> videos too: >> >> http://www.uneasynetwork.com/media/x86/MVI_2520.AVI >> http://www.uneasynetwork.com/media/x86/MVI_2521.AVI >> >> >> > Previous: joshua collins - "Re: mac OS on a PC - no Emulator..."
