RE: amping 1200s sans mixer
From: Dave Spincycle If u are in UK, richer sounds do a decent one for £20. Otherwise just get an old amp, and use the tape out. dave -----Original Message----- From: Techhouse-bounces@... Subject: [Techhouse] amping 1200s sans mixer hey folks, i know the vinyl backup bit has been covered quite a bit in the last couple of years, but i don't think anyone's asked this particular question yet - if i'm wrong, my apologies ahead of time for needless inbox clutter... i'm about to embark on the exciting journey of vinyl conversion, and i've got a pretty nice computer and soundcard (an rme hammerfall dsp setup) and a 1200 to do it with. however, it's been a while since i've owned a 12, and i forgot that it's going to need to be amplified before i record the signal - i'm assuming that would be much preferable to trying to "louden" it digitally after the fact. given that i'm not in the market for a mixer, i figure the best option would be to get a little analog amp for the deck. any recommendations for such an amp (i.e. manufacturer/model), or thoughts on a better way to go about this? thanks much, charles __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
