New mix and track reviews for your consumption..

From: Tim Bulger

I bought some fresh vinyl Sunday afternoon and mixed it all up that
night. Here is that mix and some half axsed reviews of the included
tunes. The whole thing is just enough under 80 minutes that it
should be burnable with decently edited track breaks. There is also
a single file version for streaming or whatever. Please enjoy and
Feedback is always appreciated.

01 - Community Recordings - Easier Said Than Done - Stupendous.mp3
This is a spacey, dubbed out plodder that makes a good opening or
closing track. Reggae styled vocals wash in and out and it never
really takes it to the next level.

02 - DJ Banjo from Japan - The Drunks Present - Shhh!.mp3
Self-labelled 'Hip-House Tribute,' I wouldn't put it any other way.
Funky rhythms and samples coupled with an old-school style hip-hop
vocal keep the head bobbin.

03 - Broadway & Wilson - Cut Up - Gallery.mp3
Tracky deep/tech house DJ tool sort of record with some other decent
mixes as well.

04 - Chuck Daniels - Funky Flarnum - Oomph.mp3
Another DJ tool, this time with a relentless funky guitar riff and
some well executed breakdowns. Simple but fun and effective.

05 - Aroma All Stars - Episodes in Jazz (Swirl People Rmx) - Aroma.mp3
Awesome piano driven jazzy deep house workout with a monstrous
walking bassline that will make your ass shake. Very tasty.

06 - The Girth - Extra Seasoning - White.mp3
Piano oriented house with just the right amount of deep and tech
elements and an almost annoying female hip-hop vocal. Party music.

07 - Joey Youngman - Juicy Melon - Nightshift.mp3
Once again walking that line between deep and tech, with good
results. Disco samples and organic sounds blend well with the
quality drum programming.

08 - Patrick Turner - House Music - White.mp3
Dark and dirty, with a driving minor key bassline and the preacher
extolling the glories of house music. Someday people will talk
about this record.

09 - Community Recordings - Easier Said Than Done
(Ethen, Felli, & Buddy's Stupendo Mix) - Stupendous.mp3
This insane remix of track #1 is a savory bit of acid house.

10 - Instant Noodles - Decibel Magic (Swag Channel Battle Edit) -
Battle.mp3
I'll be the first to acknowledge that some Swag stuff is formulaic
and similar in character, but keep it coming, please. :) Bubbly,
bleepy, tweaked out sounds coming from everywhere on this track, and
who can argue with a synthesized robot voice dropping "R-E-M-I-X"?!

11 - Triangle Orchestra - The Strip (Swag Dub) - Outergaze.mp3
More Swag goodness with lots of in your face synthetic sounds that
feel as natural as defecation. Intricate drum programming and a
delayed sax line keep this one interesting throughout.

12 - Instant Noodles - Decibel Magic - Battle.mp3
The original version of track #10, both just had to be included.
Tweaked out acid house all the way, with some awesome build ups
and breakdowns that will keep everyone awake.

13 - Q-Tee Fingers - I'm Ready (Dub Mix) - Yellow.mp3
Twisted, mangled French house with an effected female vocal that
just goes way too far.

14 - Stacey Kidd - Rock n Roll - After School.mp3
A Chicago take on the latin house sound, with a couple of bouncy
guitar riffs as the main ingredients.
Please note: I messed with this in Sound Forge to de-emphasize the
unfortunately clattering highs. Sue me. ;)

15 - Stacey Kidd vs Grasshoppers Masters - Get Shorty -
Bumpin City.mp3
A rather tongue-in-cheek "remix" with samples from classic TV shows.
Kinda hard to take anything seriously listening to this. :)

16 - Manwhore - Girl About Town - Doubledown.mp3
Massive bubbly bassline, big bounce, and sweet keys will keep this
deep grooving monster in my box for awile.

17 - Joey Youngman - Work It Out - Fetish.mp3
Ya, more Joey Youngman. :) Growling bassline and more excellent
keyboard wizardry on this. This guy is on fire lately!
